Mplayer Fullscreen?????
 

I just recently download mplayer 1.0 pre6a and when i want to see a movie on full screen the program only maximize the windows but i can still see the taskbar and other stuff(it's just maximized). I just want to see the movie and nothing else on my screen. It's there any way to do that?????

mplayer -fs yourfile

Also, while you're in MPlayer, press F and it will fullscreen MPlayer :)

thanks, but actually i'm runnig gmplayer (the grafic interface of mplayer) i don't know how to do with that.

I don't use the graphical interface with mplayer. When I play a video I just run it from the command line. It's not hard just run the syntax from the command line...

mplayer -fs yourfile.mpeg

and it'll go directly into full screen

Sorry, i've just tried with the command line but it's the same thing. It's like when you open your home directory and a windows appears; it's exactly the same, only that inside the window it's the movie. To see it in the suppose "fullscreen" i have to click in the maximize button. I'm running it in KDE 3.1. Coul it be the problem???

have you not tried just pressing "F" ?

perhaps KDE's window manager is blocking the entire fullscreen request?

If anyone knows any programs lke mplayer but working in KDE 3.1. it'll be very helpfull.

look for a KDE front end for mplayer .. i know they exist .. they might solve your problem

First off--I know EXACTLY the behaviour you're talking about. I think it's a problem with gmplayer. You can avoid it by uninstalling gmplayer and installing the non-graphical mplayer frontend. I despise gmplayer because it "takes over" the command "mplayer" rather than being invoked ONLY by running "gmplayer". Presumably, this was done in the past before mplayer was split up between the backend engine and frontend interfaces.

I believe kplayer and kmplayer are two KDE based mplayer front-ends. If you go to mplayer's official website, you can find links to many mplayer frontends.

Personally, I use xine (with mplayer's codecs), and use kaffeine as the front-end. Kaffeine is a very nicely integrated KDE app.

Thanks, but i saw the other players and didn't like me, so i installed mplayer in gnome and works perfectly. The only problem now it is that i have to re-log using gnome every time i want to see a movie; but that's fine for me, i see movies from time to time.
