MPlayer flash desktop when run from console

hi

i am trying to get mplayer to run from the console playing through a specified playlist. i am also using realtime video effects for mplayer.

i am using puppy linux with xwin configured for vesa.

my problem is that mplayer flashes the desktop between movies and does not do a smooth transition. i have tried different video output drivers, but without any success. the vesa (mplayer -vo vesa -playlist playlist) one works the best, but i can for the life of me not get it to work with realtime video effects. it also leaves the desktop black after the player is done.

if anyone can possibly help me to get mplayer to switch between movies without flashing, i would really appreciate it.

thank you
krappies

I got around this problem by running mplayer in the console(non gui), not from a console in xwin, with the -vo vesa.

Thanx anyways
