Exclamation MPlayer error! Can you help me please?I ma

I am using Red Hat 9, and I installed Mplayer(from There was 1 rpm packege for the program mplayer, one for font and another one for skins. I know that other packeges/ rpm's for MPlayer contains other rpm's(like mplayer-gui-rpm, mplayer-common). I installed them too, a week ago and I had the same error like now with this one. At first I thought it was a packege problem, but I don't think that anymore.
The error is displayed when I want to play the file: "Error opening / initializing the selected video_out (-vo) device.
Could you help me? Or give me a good mouvie player for red hat 9, or a ftp or url to make a dwl.

Have you tried to reinstall all them yet? I had a similar problem right on redhat 9 and I resolved it reinstalling the package.

What selected video option are you using? You can get a list of the available options in your installed version of mplayer with "mplayer -vo help" if you have not already. You can get an idea of what your graphics card is capable of with "xvinfo". I had a bit of problems for awhile with my ATI driver, so xvinfo gave me nothing and the only way I could use mplayer for awhile was "mplayer -vo x11 -zoom".

mplayer is good, it just takes a little tender loving care.
