Mplayer and DVDs
Hi everybody ,
Long time since i posted a question.
The day before, i rented a movie dvd. I used Mplayer to play it. The picture was sharp. But there were thin horizontal distortions whenever there were fast moving pictures. The picture seemed to be interleaved. This happened only when there were sudden movements made by the objects in the movie.
Is this a software problem or is this a hardware limitation (graphic card) of the PC i use. My PC has AMD 1.7G, 256 DDR RAM, Nvidia ge force2. The distribution i use is FC3.
The good thing is that i compared this with power dvd on windows and i must say the image was much more sharper like viewing a tv. The only problem was these horizontal linear distortions on fast movements.
Are there any other good players........
Bye

I've had a similar problem, I'm fairly sure that its the NVidia drivers, I've got a Geforce 4 and I have issues with this sometimes too. Try going to their website and downloading and compiling the kernel module for better X support of the geforce2
Also, I've tried Mplayer, but I really like Xine better, so maybe look into that, the install is a little more complex, but not much and I think its a better player.
Hope that helps!
