Mplayer again...pls help... simple one

hi,

i 've install my Mplayer from a bunch of rpm files, tedious but, at last i managed to install it into my RH9. ok!, now, when i try to play VCD using gmplayer, it yields an error to me, as such:

Fatal Error

Mplayer interrupted by signal 11 in module: open_stream

Mplayer crashed by bad usage of CPU/FPU/RAM
Recompile MPlayer with --enable-debug and make a 'gdb' backtrace
and disasembly. For details, see DOC/en/bugreports.html#crash

but then, if i manually mount the CD drive and type
mplayer vcd://video1.dat. it will manage to play the VCD wonderfully.

Are there any setting that i should notice? or i just havent set them? pls advise.... thanks!!!!!!

The GUI gmplayer is in the development state (always has been and according to mplayerhq will probably stay the same), the whole power of Mplayer is that it is a CLI (command line interface) multi-media player with wealth of command line flags to play around, it even has the guts to play DVD's and what not w/o loading X.

I recomend you NEVER install mplayer with rpm
1) there are to many options and features that require other options and features and packages
2) source is 90% mor elikely to work

go to www.mplayerhq.hu d-load the stuff on the download page and read the briefs, that should help, if you want everything included go through docs and click every single link and d-load what is there (I did, over 200 sources to compile but I have mplayer AND EVERY POSSIBLE OPTION - except dvd-nav which is broken and beyond my skills to fix.
