did you compile the mplayer with the gui feature?

if you did "./configure" then it's not enabled.

You have to enable the GUI manually and that's done with "./configure --enable-gui"
and then go to the official mplayer homepage and download the mplayer blue default skin and put it in to the skin directory.

you don't need a gui.. they're a waste of time.... just use keys:

stop = q
pause = p or space
fullscreen = f
+10 minutes = pgup

etc....

you can run the full gui with gmplayer, but like i said... guis on movie players are pretty pointless

Hi!!!

Yes and No are the right answers. If you've installed mplayer with gui options, you would like to run at console "gmplayer instead". If you did not, then you will need to use "mplayer <options you choose> file_to_play.mpg"

Typing "mplayer -h" will bring you the options you've to choose.
About the foward, stop and etc... play around with the direction keys at your keyboard... it's all there in an obvious order.... Sound control is made with 9 and 0. Space pauses...

Oh dont forget to edit the config file, to make GUI=yes, just went through all that trouble trying to get mine to work, still having issues out of the stupid skins though. Well, got the skin to work, but now it locks up repeatedly. Cant do anything.
