MPlay .060


after ./configure, make, make install i type mplayer and this error msg comes up-

mplayer: error while loading shared libraries: cannot open shared object file: cannot load shared object file: No such file or directory




along with the prog, i downloaded and compiled ffmpeg; libdvdcss; libdvdread

find your mplayer binary then:

# ldd /path/to/mplayer


See what it's missing and try to install/find it

the one library it says not found is in my /usr/local/lib folder

what do i do now?

edit /etc/ld.so.conf and append that path at the end, save and then run:

# ldconfig

that'll refresh the library database dependancy file and *if* it fixed your dependancy issue you should be able to run mplayer fine.

thxabuch

that ldconfig did the trick, now i have to go hunt down all the cvarious codecs

one more question-ldd is like a log file of what libraries the app tries to open?

nah, ldd can simply see what library a binary file is executed against.
