mpg all jumpy using avidemux

hi there

I have never had this problem before but i am trying to convert a avi file to mpg and the center of the movie is all jumpy. Meaning the moving objects jump around while the stationary one don't. I'm using avidemux 2.3
I've rebuilt the frames, but to be honest i am not sure what else i should be doing.
If i use kaboodle to play the avi it works alright but not with avidemux. I'm sorry that i haven't given enough info but once again I'm not sure what else to write.

cheers bryn
