I am having a similar problem with Fedora 6. I installed the rpm from
http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3/stat...86_64.rpm.html

I tried rebooting but it did not solve the problem. Does anyone know how to fix that?

Rebooting is a windoze thing, it doesn't help with linux unless you update the kernel.

I don't know what that rpm is, but I suggest you check that you have installed the win32 codecs from mplayer and the packman version of xine-lib ( http://packman.links2linux.org/package/xine-lib or http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3/stat....i386.rpm.html )

And what exactly are you trying to view and what doesn't work? I got some experience with this, so if you offer more details, I might be able to help.

If you have a dependency problem jerzeejerome, all you have to do is to find what packages you are missing and then download and install them. If you know any yum repository that has these packages then you can add it to yum and let it handle the dependencies automatically.
A small tip: Get only packages that are built for fedora 6 and do not try to use packages for suse, for example.

Valkyrie_of_valhalla, packages from packman are made for suse and not for fedora. They might work in fedora but they will most likely fail to install.

My search led me there. I installed it but I still get the unresolved dependency alert.

LOL I know but it couldn't hurt to try it.

I am trying to install Mplayer, it won't do it without that dependency.

Oops, I forgot that. Sorry.

Mplayer has so many requirements, I have still been unable to install it although my movies work just fine. Can't you use the other players you have?

And welcome to rpm hell! You have to install a dependency, you install it, and it still shows it's needed. Happens all the time. Make sure everything is the right version, for the right distro, and everything that crosses your mind.

I finally got Mplayer installed (using yum)

Problem is when I try to play a wmv file, it only plays it 1/4 of the way then starts over.

Try xine. I also had similar problems with MPlayer in the past.
