mpd -- music player daemon

Can mpd play different music tracks to different mpd clients on different connected devices at the same time, with audio output on the connected device?

Or does it play the same track to all connected devices?

It seems like it's meant to hook up to your home's speakers, and then any guest with a mpd client on their phone basically has a remote control to the home's juke box.

But I want to use it where each guest can listen to whatever they want on their device at the same time as other guests listening to something different, with audio output to the guest devices...

Is that possible with mpd?

Your correct mpd is not a media server. There are a few to choose from

Thanks. Those seem too front-endian for my taste, but the phrase "media server" turned up mediatomb, which I'll take for a spin. Cheers.
