mpd and "special" ALSA config

Hi,

I am running mpd-0.14.2 with ALSA. My asound.conf is kind-of fancy, because I upmix 2.0 signals to 5.1 and in the process low-pass filter the LFE channel with ladspa. The asound.conf can be found here. I know for a fact that configuration works, because "aplay /path/to/song.wav" works and plays 5.1. However, when I leave the device tag of /etc/mpd.conf empty (mpd looks for "default") or when I type in the name of my ALSA setting ("aureon_20to51"), I get the following in mpd.errors.log:

Quote:
Error opening ALSA device "<default/aureon_20to51>" (snd_pcm_hw_params): Invalid argument
The card I am using is an external USB sound card. When I pass "hw:1,0" (the card's address) to the device tag or create a new asound.conf entry with "type hw" and "card Audio" ("Audio" is the literal name assigned to hardware card 1) and set that in the device tag, mpd works. But of course it plays only two channels.

I read somewhere online that the ALSA type "plug" might be a problem. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,

Marek
