mp3/wav to midi converters?


hi all
i'd like to convert mp3/wav to midi. now is there ANYTHING out there that can do this? i've tried the wave2midi from freshmeat and it was completely crap.

There's this site that lists a bunch of software like this, but it appears that none of it is available for Linux. I've been looking around for something similar lately, without any luck. Apparently it's not easy to do that kind of thing - this explanation of the process may help to explain why. With current technology, the best you are likely to get is a general recognition of the melody and perhaps some of the chords, but not much else.
