MP3 TV Jukebox Program

I have a pentium 266 motherboard, video card with tv out, hd, mouse remote, and network card. I want to use these parts to create an mp3 jukebox under linux that connects to a tv and gets the songs from another networked computer. I need to know what program I should try to use to make this possible. Thanks for the help...

i'm lost, how on earth do you get from mp3's to a tv out??

Sorry, I will explain better next time?!. The pc would have a soundcard also...

Anyway, I just want the name of software that will allow you to make an mp3 jukebox.

a jukebox could mean an awful lot of different things, ranging from just using xmms to a beskope installation such as dashpc. try explaining what you would like to get out of it, how you want to be able to interact etc...

Ok. here goes.

I want a graphical, meaning X11, interface so I can create playlists and play songs using my home stereo and TV. I want the PC hooked up to the tv and to the stereo. I want a user to be able to sit in front of the TV and using either a wireless mouse or the X10 mouse remote, be able to pick songs and create playlists. The songs would not be on this computer, they would be on another networked pc.

I also want this to be as simple as possible for the user.

That is the best I can explain it.

Take a look at this:

I haven't tried it, but it sounds like this is what you want.

A.

That actually looks pretty cool. I am still looking for a program like I had for win98. It was a frontend for winamp and I had some software that would make good use of the x10 mouse remote. I wish there was something out there like this for XMMS and linux.

I may have to try programming my own.

Now my next thread begins. How do I begin to program a linux program in X11. I had Visual Basic, Visual C++, Pascal, Cobol, and C+ in college. Anyone got some good links to get me started?

Something like this? or you could try one of these.

freevo has a big fat full-screen menu that will let you play your mp3's, show the cover art from the CD and let you browse your photos. You can build it to support IR remote (via lirc). It can play your movie collection but I doubt they would look very good running off a II/266. freevo.sourceforge.net

So far Freevo looks perfect. I see that in the short term, music queuing will be added, this is a must. After that this will be perfect!

I am going to look over some of the other ones as well....

Thanks for all the links!
