MP3 Support in Fedora 4

Are there any packages available that will allow me to play mp3 files in Fedora 4? Specifically with Rhythmbox and XMMS. The 'yum install xmms-mp3' and 'yum install gstreamer-plugins mp3' doesn't work either.

Do you have the proper repositories enabled? Please post these files onto this message board.

/etc/yum.conf
All files inside of /etc/yum.repos.d/

I just upgraded from FC3 to FC4. I had the same issue. My solution: An older xmms (1.2-10) from an older distro. Worked like a charm, skins, plugins, all of it.

I think what you're looking for can be found in the livna repo for Fedora Core 4, here. You can add this repo to yum by added this file to the /etc/yum.repos.d/ directory, call it livna-stable.repo
Code:
[livna-stable]
name=Livna.org Fedora Compatible Packages (stable)
baseurl=http://rpm.livna.org/fedora/$releasever/$basearch/RPMS.lvn
gpgcheck=1
You'll also need the GPG key if you want to check you packages, with this command:
Hope this helps; post back if you need more help.

I just used this one, and it works ok.

http://dag.wieers.com/packages/xmms/...c3.rf.i386.rpm

If it doesnt, try installing the compat library to deal with the gcc 4 problem.

Yup, I've got it working fine...

See:

http://www.fedorafaq.org/#xmms-mp3

Note:

For Fedora for you need to setup Livna repository slightly different:

The easiest way for me has been the kde-redhat repo located here

http://kde-redhat.sourceforge.net/

All you have to do is a
yum update and you not only have the most recent KDE version but also mp3 and video.
