Mozilla Screen Freezes on flash animations
Distro: RedHat 9 on a 686 w/512m ddr ram
I have upgraded to Mozilla 1.6 I have installed Java plugin and Flash 6 plugin. Problem: "sometimes" when I go to a website that has a flash animation, my screen freezes. I (sometimes) am able to kill the mozilla browser but after that my system becomes unresponsive and I have to reboot. I then try re-install the flash plugin and it will work for a while. Last night I ran ldconfig in the Mozilla directory but have not used it enough at this point to determine whether or not this has changed anything. Question: Has anyone out there in the open source world run across this and what have you done to deal with this? Does anybody have an offering for a suggestion? |
during mozilla installation on Debian, i was asked what kind of sound warper would i like to use. it said that sometimes mozilla can freeze if there are flash animations with sound. i guess your problem i related with sound. Debian has a handy tool called dpkg-reconfigure, and i guess that'd solve your problem on Debian, but RH does not have such a possibility.
i assume you've installed mozilla from rpm. if that is correct i'd advice you to install it using installation script provided on http://mozilla.org . when i was working on RH9 i installed it that way and to be honest i never had such a problem. |
I ran ldconfig from the /usr/local/mozilla directory and so far the problems seem to have subsided.....If the freezes start back up again I will be back on this thread.
