Mozilla RedHat 8.0 Crash
I'm running RedHat 8.0, and whenever I load up any Mozilla browser (I've tried 1.4, 1.0.1, and Firebird 0.6), they load up, but then when I go to type a URL into the location bar, it crashes. I've run Mozilla with Mandrake 9.0 and it doesn't have the same problem. Has anyone else had the same problem, and, if so, is there a fix available? Thanks for any help.

Is this RedHat install fresh without any other updates?
Did you install it from downloaded cds? Did you checksum them before and after burning? |
Yes, I did install off of the 3 ISO images offered on Red Hat's website, and the checksums match. I haven't checked for updates.

What specs are your pc?
Which window manager are you using? Did you select its title bar or otherwise focus Mozilla before clicking in the address bar? Can you check the menu options to see what options you have in Keyboard Navigation, and Smart Browsing? |
I have a Pentium III 600 MHz, 384 MB of RAM, with a Diamond Viper V770 vid card.
I am running KDE 3.0 Hmm. I just unchecked all of the smart browsing and keyboard navigaton options and it worked. I then began checking them one by one to see which was the culprit, and before I knew it, all were re-checked and it is still working. I hope it stays this way. Thanks for the help. |
Maybe a dodgy default setting which is corrected by toggling those options? Weird indeed :)
