Mozilla quits right after startup

I just installed Slackware 9.1, and everything seems to be working okay (mostly). I just created a new regular user and logged in and tried to start Mozilla, but when I do nothing happens. I tried to start it from the console, and Moz gave these lines of output:

*** Registering -webcal handler.
*** Registering text/calendar handler.
*** Registering webcal protocol handler.

and then it immediatly exits.

Mozilla works fine as root but not as a regular user. Anyone know why?

I'm not sure why, but you could try copying your config as root to the home directory of the user you're wanting to use it as.

It seems to have something to do with the sound. I noticed that I had to be running esd or else Mozilla would freeze very quickly after startup while root. I tried to run esd as a regular user and I got an error about permission denied on my sound device. I chmoded the device to 777 and ran esd. This time it worked. I also tried to run Mozilla like this. It worked too!

Something tells me that chmod 777 /dev/snd/pcm_somethingorother isn't permenant. What do I do?
