Mozilla Problem!

First of all, I'm using GALEON, which is based on the mozilla rendering engine. Now when I launch galeon and go to a web page when it's not maximized, everything IS A-OK! THe second I maximize the browser, half the text/page disappears! WTF IS GOING ON? It never gave me this problem! Second thing is, my vertical scroller is always an RGB mesh. It's just random colors and pixels and it's f-ed up to the max. You cant even see it but it works if u ever click on it! :S

ANY SUGGESTIONS ARE APPRECIATED!

Mara 05-17-2003 03:53 PM

Do you have the same problem with other programs? If it's only galeon, try another version (a bug, probably). If you have the some problem with other programs, it may mean there's something wrong with your video card driver.

VIP3R 05-17-2003 05:49 PM

MY VIDEO CARD DRIVER? What you talking about. How does that make any sense? I mean that in the nicest way possible. Yet I don't see the reasoning behind your suggestion. Everything shows up fine, but the mozilla rendering engine space. :S I'm positive it's the mozilla engine and not my video card driver. :P! Would you know how to possibly reinstall the mozilla engine! Please don't think that I was making fun of you or anything like that, I just don't understand how it could be my video card drivers if everything else works fine.

WOW...If there's sooo many members that use this forum and none of them know how to uninstall mozilla, and reinstall it. well I guess then everyone on this forum shouldn't be using linux kuz it's kinda sad if you've used linux for so long but don't know how to uninstall mozilla. Well, it's kinda sad for me too, kuz for someone who knows C++, VB, & Java, and I can't even uninstall mozilla. But then again, I just switched to linux so i have an excuse :P! Ohwell, don't worry about me, i'll figure it out in a matter of hours. I was just hoping I wont fuk-up this installation again :S! Otherwise, I wouldn't bother getting help. It's sad also kuz I couldn't even get help with a simple hardware question and I had to alter the mouse resolution on my own and fixed the problem.

Shut your 1337 4$$ up and think. Then try checking your installation source first, incase it's broken and re-installing wont get you anywhere.

You have a very bad graphical problem. Your video card deals with your computer's graphics. If you have a problem with the drivers or the hardware, then the coding of the rendering engine might be falling over some incompatability or error. It's not a crazy concept.

VIP3R 05-18-2003 05:31 PM

LOL..I dunno where you became a genius, but that schooling that you got musta been 1337! Kuz honestly, YOU MUST BE THE DUMBEST I'VE EVER DELT WITH. THE MOZILLA ENGINE WORKED MANY TIMES BEFORE (SAME VERSION). So how does go back to a graphics driver problem if everything worked before, and only the mozilla engine won't render when maximized? LOL..And sorry to break down your m4$$1v3 3G0, but reinstalling it DID WORK! But thanks for comming out son! LOL, go home son and sit your ass down, kuz a linux n00b just wooped your @$$!

My ego?

Crashed_Again 05-18-2003 05:56 PM

VIP3R have you ever heard of the expression "You get more flys with honey then with vinegar."?

Anyway, what distrobution are you using? If you think uninstalling galeon and re-installing galeon will solve your problem then we must know how it was installed in order to un-install it.

VIP3R 05-18-2003 08:56 PM

Thanx for trying to help, not that I'll be able to use it kuz i'll be formating soon but it wouldn't hurt to know how to uninstall this piece of crap software.

RH 8.0, updated mozilla through RHN (didn't work after this install :S), mozilla = piece of crap. It has no uninstaller, and if u want to isntall a newer version, it says that it needs an older version. When you come to install the version it needed, it says that a newer version is already installed. Who ever programmed it was an idiot...really, i've dealt with crap before but this is rediculous!

VIP3R,

May I remind you to reread the rules. You've been warned. Let's keep it clean and nice. There are many members that help out on this site, it is easy for a thread to get swallowed up, etc. Sometimes you will get a reply, sometimes you won't. You have to remember to be patient and think that most here are helping you in their own free time on this site.
Be considerate of others and their suggestions, your first response to Mara was not helpful in any way, you didn't even reply but only questioned her response to your question. You should be so lucky to even have gotten a reply. Remember, your the one here asking questions, your response was like you calling tech support but not willing to troubleshoot the problem..

Think about it though... just a thought.

So quick to give up. You can easily remove mozilla by doing:

rpm -qa | grep mozilla

Then take packages given by that command and remove all of them in one move:

rpm -e mozilla mozilla-devel blah blah blah

replacing blah blah blah with all the installed mozilla packages.
