Mozilla opens URL as local tmp file?

Hi all -

I'm having an odd problem with Mozilla. I'm running version 1.7, with KDE 3.2 on Mandrake 10 Official.

Sometimes, when I click a URL (be it in an email message in KMail, or through another application - like the link to download new themes in SuperKaramba), instead of opening Mozilla to the internet URL, Mozilla does some sort of download of the web page and saves it locally (I see this via a super-quick flash of a dialog box), and then opens the URL like:

file:///var/tmp/kdecache-shelly/krun/5754.0.

From the generated URL, I'm guessing this has something to do with KDE. Mozilla is set as my default web browser in KDE.

How can I stop this local viewing of a cached version of the web page and just view the actual internet URL? This doesn't happen with all URL's - sometimes I can click an email URL and it comes up just fine in Mozilla. I have not been able to figure a pattern of this behavior.

Any help is appreciated!

You've already set your default browser in KDE. I had the same problem.

Go back to Control Center > KDE Components > File Associations

Search for HTML

Click on the entry for Mozilla, then click edit. Assuming you're using KDE 3.2, you'll want the "Application" tab. At the end of the command line for mozilla, just add a %u.

That's it.
