Mozilla Hosts file location

Hello everyone,

I am wondering if someone can tell me where the hosts file that Mozilla uses is? I know of a hosts file in etc/hosts. I have edited that one, but mozilla doesn't seem to be using this one. I know I have edited it correctly, because I have tried pinging some of my blacklisted sites and it returns 127.0.0.1.

The issue I am trying to resolve is that I always see mozilla contacting a URL named "ar.atwola.com" no matter what website I go to. I have no clue what this ar.atwola.com is, but I am sure it is some spyware/adware/privacy invasion site.

Can someone help me?

Thanks

Not Sure

I know this doesn't help, but I thought /etc/hosts was used system wide (i.e. including mozilla) also.

Check your /etc/resolv.conf file, that will tell you where the system is resolving hostnames.

if you see a line that starts with 'nameserver' then you are probably doing a dns lookup from whatever address is shown.
