searched all over and tried about 5 or 6 differnt methods, but i cannot get java working on mozilla..

its mozilla 1.5 (also tried 1.4 with the same problem) and the sun java plugin for gcc-3.2, on slackware. the problem is that now mozilla dies (no hanging, just kills itself) whenever i try to load a java applett.

i have tried:

the blackconnect plugin, the sun plugin 2 versions of, tryed sym linking chmodding and varous other ways, but i cannot get it to work, anyone shed any light on why, i have even tried removing every thing mozilla related from the computer and re installing... but i am stuck now

does java work when you run mozilla as root? I once had the problem that the java-plugin would not work in mozilla until I ran mozilla as root- don't ask me why. Maybe it'll work for you as well.

edit: after running mozilla as root ONCE, things were fine for other users.

It might be that you are not using the latest java-release. I had the same problem untill I installed the latest release

quatsch... you were right, it works great now, must be funny perms for mozilla
