Mozilla

Hi all, I got mozilla1.0 off a cd. Now Im having trouble installing it. The CD supplied a precompiled tarball of mozilla 1.0. It failed to supply adequate instructions. Now Ive lost mozilla and to run mozilla now I have to go into console and changed to the mozilla directory and type

./mozilla

This isn't any good to me. Does any one know how to setup mozilla from a precompiled tarball properly?

Thanks

From inside that directory where you type ./mozilla try typing: 'make install'.

Cool

If the binaries were precompiled make install might not be there - there mightn't be any Makefile, where is the mozilla now? /opt/mozilla/mozilla, /usr/giberish/mozilla ? You might need to adjust your $PATH to point to it.

Ah it seems that he may have lost the mozilla icon from the panel.. If it is the case, the click on the menu button ---------> panel--------> Add to panel -------------> launcher. In that give the full path to mozilla(if dont know the location of mozilla try with locate command).

Okay I got it installed okay now, so it seems, the only problem now is that I can't type "mozilla" from bash and start it, I have to go to the directory to start it. Also how do I change the icon in a kde menu. I have the choice of the default ones but I would like the Mozilla icon?

Thanks in advance

Right click on the ugly default one, choose preferences. Click on the ugly picture, and then click browse. Now locate the icon you wish (if you don't have one for Mozilla, you could cruise over to their home page and get one) and then click ok.

Another option might be to see if Mandrake has a precompiled Mozilla for you, this would save you a bit of time, it would put Mozilla in your PATH, allowing you to type mozilla from anywhere to bring up Mozilla, and it would also include the icon for you.

Cool
