Mozilla 1.6 and Firefox 0.8 shuts down on certain websites

Hrmh... I'm having a problem with Mozilla 1.6 and Firefox 0.8, where both of them just simply shut down on certain websites. It happens for example on (get an itienary from place A to B, submit, and once you get the driving instructions, then do Modify... crash).

If the problem would be only on that site, but no... This is happening on daily basis... Hotmail crashes it too, but I haven't figured out any pattern on that.

If I run the browser from the terminal, there's no error, nothing.

Any good ideas?????

Could be these sites might use Java or ActiveX, etc causing the crashes. Have you tried disabling Java or even Javascript to see if that might help, etc or to at least test?

I also suspect that this is a java problem. If you have copied the java plugin into the /plugins directory (rather that making a symbolic link to it) than this is most certainly the case.

Well, probably it is a javascript problem, I couldn't get the browsers to crash if I had both java and javascript disabled. But I also can't use the site, nor hotmail, without javascript...

I have the symbolic link for the java plugin in the /plugins directory, not the file. I'm using java version 1.4.2 from Blackdown.

Strange... I searched and searched, tried to remove & reinstall, always the same result, browser silently (and annoyingly) closing...

But! Then I tried a different package (same version) and voila! Now it seems to work...

The first package I used was from, and the working one from
