i've downloaded and installed the latest mozilla (that is 1.5). than i've downloaded java (j2re 1.4.2 in rpm) from their official web site. i install java and create a symlink to mozilla/plugins directory. but when i run mozilla it say me, that the plugin is corrupted therefore it won't be used! the same thing happens when i try any previous available java releases. even non rpm installation does not help. what the hell is wrong?
Did you make a symbolic link to the libjavaplugin_oji.so that was compiled with gcc3.2 ? And are you sure Java wasn't corrupted during the download or install? I've always used the self extracting binaries and they've never given me any trouble.
im using netscape 7.1 ... are they related with mozilla 1.5??? because in this version i used to link the /usr/java/j2sdk1.4.2_01/jre/plugin/i386/ns610-gcc32 and it works

That's the key thing, you MUST use the gcc322 plugin, because Moz 1.4 and up are compiled with it, that'swhy you are getting the plugin errors.
