Unhappy Mozilla 1.5 and Java (totally exasperating!)

Hi

Ok, I can no longer install Mozilla v1.2 locally like I used to do, then go to a site that uses Java and simply download the plugin because I have Fedora Linux (core 1#) now and the newer libraries are not compatible. After Mozilla 1.0, Java was no longer included due to licenssingt reasons.

I can also not seem to get Java to work with Mozilla Firebird v0.7. I think they even tell you that it won't work on thier site.

Lastly, I am CURRENTLY using Mozilla v1.5 and I can't get Java to work with that either. I've tried the Java .BIN file from Sun (j2re v1.4), the RPM file and simply going to a site that uses Java and waiting for the "install plugin?" prompt to pop up. It's no use.

Do I need to create a symlink and how do I do that?

Thanks!

I have Java working in Firebird. At least, I think I do.

On some occasions X has crashed while I was loading an applet. I don't know if
that has something specifically to do with Firebird. (Of course, even if Firebird
does something wrong, it shouldn't crash X.)

What I did was to create a symbolic link to the java runtime inside Firebird's plugin
subdirectory. In other words, I went to /usr/bin/MozillaFirebird/plugins/ and did

ln -s /usr/java/j2sdk1.4.2/jre/plugin/i386/ns610-gcc32/libjavaplugin_oji.so
