Mozilla 1.3

I just downloaded, 13 MB, and installed successfully.

Anyhow, I think IE6.0 of windows is still the best browser.

I see that there is no question here but I think you are trying to start a debate. Let me put my 2 cents in before this thread gets moved or closed.

The only reason people like IE better then these open-source browsers is because M$ is trying to corner the market(what else is new) by making things only work in IE. I don't blaim them. If they didn't nobody would use it because, in my opinion, its not as good as these other browsers.

By the way I use Phoenix which is basically Mozilla without all the extras. I love it!

Wait a moment.
In windows , you can use Windows media player, Quick player, or Real Player to watch news, listen to music online.

What is the equivalent in linux ? Are the packages included ?

Well that's good. But why? Just curious why you think it's best, or why you prefer it over Mozilla or ANY other browser (assuming you've tried a lot of them, such as Opera, Lynx, Galeon, Netscape, Konqueror, and of course Mozilla).

To each their own, but for threads like this, usually it's more appropriate in the General section since it's not really linux related (Mozilla is OS independant, and IE is quite the opposite).

Cool

You mean browser plugins? There is a realplayer browser plugin, you can use the crossover plugin from codeweavers, and/or check out mplayer plugin. All can be found with a quick search, but here's my contribution to get you started:
http://www.codeweavers.com/home/

;)

Cool

As I said, all these applications are in bed with Microsoft.

You can download codeweavers crossover plugin which handles these things pretty well.

I think your missing my point here. Why would Mozilla support Windows media player? If there was a Mozilla media player do you think IE would support it?

MasterC 03-18-2003 10:27 PM

To add to the "Why would Mozilla support win Media Player"

Well, Mozilla is a browser, not a media player. However, being a browser it supports plugins. These plugins are what make the browser perform as they do. Mozilla itself is not the problem if you are having problems with media embedded on a webpage, but rather a lack of plugin(s).

;)

Just so you can blame the right thing...

Hey, it is not free, it requests me to buy!

futurist 03-18-2003 10:29 PM

there is demo version, but i want permanent one.

MasterC 03-18-2003 10:32 PM

Holy $hit! Something that eases your transition into linux from win and they want you to buy it? ;)

There are other options, that was just one...

The mplayer plugin really is what I use, and it does the job perfect for my needs.

Cool

futurist 03-18-2003 10:35 PM

the website does not offer free download, may be i will got to cnet.com to find free plugin.

MasterC 03-18-2003 10:46 PM

Do you mean for the Crossover plugin? You can get the demo download from here:
http://www.codeweavers.com/products/...nload_demo.php

If you like it, buy it, I'm sure it's worth the 25 bux since everyone who has purchased it thinks it is ;)

Cool

Why mozilla resembles Netscape 4.XX ??

MasterC 03-18-2003 11:26 PM

Probably because they are both built off the same engine? You might check out:
http://devedge.netscape.com/

It appears to be known as the "Mozilla Gecko Layout Engine"...

;)

Cool
