Moving Launcher Applets on panel

Can someone explain how to rearrange launcher applets on the top panel so that they are in a sequence that's convenient? Somehow mine got all messed up--I've no idea how--and I want to move things back to the way I liked them. Also, I lost the battery icon completely and I need this to monitor the time available on my battery. Any thoughts as to what causes this panel rearrangement so I can avoid it in the future? Thank you! Oh, I forgot to mention--I'm using Ubuntu 10.10.

Right-click just slightly to the left of an applet and you will see an entry in the menu that says "move." Click that and then move your mouse left or right - but make sure the applet (or the applets to the right or left) are not "locked to panel" or you won't be able to move it/them.

To add the battery applet, just right-click an empty part of the panel and "add applet." If you are lucky, maybe a battery applet will be in the long list... there isn't in mine :/

Thank you. How do you move the icon for the wireless connection? That doesn't seem to have a "move" option, but I know it's at a different point on my panel than it was originally. There has to be a way to move it...
