moved initrd now cannot boot
I am fairl new at Linux.
I am running Redhat 9. I accidentally moved initrd from / to /var/spool/mqueue Now I cannot boot and using the startup disk does not work either. All I want to do is get to a prompt so I can move it back. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help. |
About the only thing I can think of is using a version of linux called knoppix to boot your system. You may then be able to do something. Knoppix boots stright off the cd so you wont have to install.

Another possibility is to use tomsrtbt. tomsrtbt is small and easy to download.

I got it working again. I used the install CD's to boot into rescue mode. This allowed me to find the file and move it back where it belonged.
Thanks for the tip with using knoppix and tomsrtbt. I am downloading them for future use. Aloha Casper |
