Mouse wont work after reboot??!!

Hi all!

I just bought a ups and had to convert my mouse from usb to ps/2 cause I was out of usb slots. So far so good! However, every time I reboot now the mouse just dies - its a Logitech laser mouse and it lights up inside so it is connected but it does not actually move. I tried mouseconfig all possible options - no luck, the only way to make it work is to actually get behind the comp disconnect the keyboard cable, disconnect mouse cable, and then reconnect them (if you only disconnect 1 cable it still doesnt work).. and then all is fine...but I have to repeat that every time I reboot it....

This is not the way it should be. I am not sure if it still keeps a config file w the usb slot even though I reconfigured it with mouseconfig or what? I am using kde on FC2.
Thank you for any input!!

Check your xconfig and you might have to re-config x again to register your mouse. I had a fun time doing it for my laptop however yours is different.

Try reconfiguring x and since I don't know your distro I can't suggest what to use.

Hmm.. just was happened to me. I'm experiencing a lots with my Asus board. I think it's because the kernel+hardware problem. On my system, i need to shutdown the pc and replug the mouse; to make the elecro static gone, and the mouse continue to work. The mouse always hang when kudzu start to scan for new hardware. I'm experiencing a lot with Mandrake, redhat, and never success to install Lindows(Linshire) because entire system hang on installation process!
Now I'm using SuSE 9.0 Pro and the mouse NEVER stuck again!
Wonder why SuSE don't make my mouse stuck?? Then try install SuSE!!
