Mouse scroll works in everything except less

I've got a regular 3-button mouse with scroll-wheel, and I'm using it in Mandrake 10.0.

For most programs, it works fine.

However, whenever I use less to read a file, or man (which uses less), I cannot use the scroll wheel to move up or down - I have to use the keyboard up and down.

I searched on Google and here, but all I could find was either "here's how to get your scroll-wheel working" (mine does work) or "here's how to use key-bindings in less".

I cannot find out what the keybindings for mouse events are, or indeed if there are any. I can't see any reason why mouse 4 & 5 shouldn't be able to be treated in the same way as the up and down arrows, but I suppose it might just not work like that for mouse buttons.

So, first question: What are the keybindings for less for a mouse scroll wheel?

Second question: If there is no such keybinding, how do I get it to work?

Thanks,

Draknek

Hi.

I believe X handles scrolling directly, without the use of key bindings.

If you really want to use the scroll wheel in less, you could install imwheel and bind the mouse wheel events to whatever keys or key combinations you want. You'd have to configure imwheel to only do this for xterm, or whatever terminal program you're using, otherwise you'll lose the usual scroll wheel behaviour for things like mozilla. The imwheel man page explains all.
