Mouse leaves trails on the screen.

Not when I'm moving it around, just when I scroll windows, it's like the mouse doesn't get redrawnm so I'm left with a trail of pointers on the screen. Also, when I click on a dropdown menu, the mouse is usually surrounded with a box of what it was on before (like if I'm on the desktop and click a dropdown, I get the box but the pointer still has a box that looks like the desktop around it).

I'm on slackware 10, with dropline-gnome 2.6, using xorg.conf. My vid card is an ATI Radeon 9500, and I'm using the latest driver off of their site. If it matters, the mouse a Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer.

Try using a different window manager and see if it happens again. If it does it's an X problem (probably upgrading to the newest X might help). After that post up your x config if it still doesn't work.

Well it happened when I switched over to fluxbox so I guess it's X. I'm not exactly sure how to check my X version, but I'm running slack 10.0 so I figure it's the latest or at least close to the latest version.

Is there a specific part of the X config file you want to look at? Cause posting the whole thing would be quite long.
