Question Mounting Drives

Hi All,

I am typing this being in windowsxp. please tell me how to mount in suse9.3 as i have tried to by following method

Created folder with the name "wi95shere" by mkdir

Did "fdisk" and when i edited "fstab" in following way

/dev/hda1 /mnt/wi95shere defaults 1 2

it said no special drive /dev/hda1 exists

My all drives are "FAT32"

Best Regards,

hda1 is the "partition 1 of the master hard drive of the first IDE cable". If your partition isn't there, of course it will not work.

First, find out "where" is your hard drive physically. Hda is master 1st cable, hdb is slave 1st cable, hdc is master 2nd cable, hdd is slave 2nd cable.
Then, use "cfdisk /dev/hdX" (where X is the letter of your drive of course) to see the partition on this drive. "fdisk /dev/hdX" then the option "p" will show you this information too.
Finally, mount the drive. No need to add this in fstab if you dont know if it works :
mount -t vfat /dev/hdXY /mnt/wi95shere (where X is the letter of your drive and Y the partition number you found)

If you need additional help on this, please post the output of 'fdisk -l' (as root, of course).
