Thumbs up mount .iso (image) file and read *.avi file

Hi folks,
I used both zindoz and linux SuSE 10.1 now but I have some problem using my SuSE. I didn't install all of the packages includes on my DVD at the first time I installed my linux and now I want to install some else using my distribution iso format on my harddisk 'cause I have a problem with my DVD reader but I don't know how to mount iso file with linux, could someone know how to make it, please ?

Also I want to watch some movie in *.avi format but all multimedia packages on this linux cannot read the file without plugins. I tried to search on the web and get some but cannot yet read until now.

Many thanks for your reply.
