MOtherboard compatabe with Linux?

On my mother board it says that the required OS is Windows 98SE, 98, 2000, or XP... NOthing about Linux, it works..and my USB slots work, my cd-rom and burner works, no sound yet, still workin on that, so all this stuff is connected to the motherboard, and its all working jsut fine, so it must be compatabe, right?

In general the motherboard itself has no compatibility issues in any cases. It comes down to the individual components on your motherboard... so so far it looks like the usb on the motherboard is compatible, the IDE controller works, the network works (if it was built in), and the sound is incompatible. (or its compatible and you just havent tried the right driver... what soundcard/chipset/whatever is it?)

Mostly these compability things are just what the manufacturer is willing to guarante. I have several devices of various nature and purpose connected to my computer, I am almost certain that most of them where labeled with "Require Windows 95,98,me,NT,2000, Xp bla bla" or something. But getting them to work in Linux was no harder than compiling and modprobing the correct modules

If you wonder if this or that hardware is compatible with Linux ask google.

Edit: typo... what else?
