most important software to install a program

i have installed SuSe linux 9 kde 3.1 (full installation) and want to install lmule. this programm requires wx windows. so i downloaded it (wxGTK) and wanted to install it. but that required gtk-config. i wanted to install gtk-config, which needed pkg-config. i installed pkg, but gtk-config stiill needed pkg-config.
help me, im a nub
