More xine problems

I am using xine-lib-1-beta12 with the xine-ui-0.9.21 frontend. When I try to run aaxine I get the error:
load_plugins: failed to load video output plugin <aa>
When I try to run xine I get this error:
load_plugins: failed to load video output plugin <aadxr3>
load_plugins: failed to load video output plugin <dxr3>
Also when I run dvds through xine the playback is very sluggish.

quick solution...

use mplayer

xine is cool (at least the name is) but i find mplayer much simpler and friendly to use...just grab the divx codec of the divx site and the win32codecs off the mplayer site and you're good to go (at least i am?)

this is just my 2cents...

...by the way ...that "...failed...<aa>" message is from aalib that i posted about before...if you just installed it and then tried to run xine ...try running `ldconfig` as root then rerun xine...not sure about the other plugins tho

K so I reinstalled aalib and went ldconfig as root but I still could not get aaxine to work. I check /usr/local/lib to see if aalib was there. It was but it was called libaa could that cause problems?

Well I fixed everything and got dvd playback running smoothly. All you have to do is turn on dma mode on your cd/dvd device. Commands for that can be found here http://xinehq.de/index.php/faq#SPEEDUP . I have no idea what dma is but it worked so I dont really care.
