hey all! just sitting here wondering if anyone knows an opensource project in linux that is similar to the BRINE digital art software but FREE! the Gimp is pretty sleek, but my roomate wants to do more.
i cant find any info on that software, what is it that he wants to do?, cause GIMP can do a lot, but if you want more, you probably want a specialized program.
I wasn't aware that GIMP was so freaking awesome . I got to playing around with it a little today (putting off my 20 page paper of course) and found that it is, as SciYro suggested, an extremely capable program. My roomie agrees. I just need a little more time to get down and intimate with it. Thanks for the link too, deoren, that program reminds me a lot of CAD3D which I used to run back on my 166 MHz HP Pavilion. Good Times.
mrchaos: you might want to look at a few tutorials, just to show some basic things, as you will learn, the GIMP is not very redundant. If you look at the text option for example, you cant draw text with outlines, or with multiple colors. There is however, functionality to do that after the text has been laid out (these functions are then able to be more flexible, as you can use them for things other then just text)
