I am fighting my way setting up this server. I have it compiled and installed but I am unable to registor any accounts. I have been following the admin guide and when I try to stream the commands it does fine until a certin point. After I telnet in I paste this in there and get what I am suppose too.

Then I paste in this;

<iq id='reg1' type='get'>
<query xmlns='jabber:iq:register'/>
</iq>

then I get this error

<stream:error>Disconnected</stream:error></stream:stream>Connection closed by foreign host.

I have tried connecting with a client and that doesn't work either. I just want the im server to be on the local network so I used an IP address and not a domain name. It says in the admin guide that it should work fine. I am a lose and new at this so any help would be great.

I am a newbie myself. I recently managed to set up a jabberd on my home intranet, which is running well with 5 different OS machines.

I am not sure I can help you directly myself, but I found very able assistance on the jadmin mailing list, which you can contact at jabber.org.
