Monitor input on usb end of usb/ltp adapter

I have a computer running DOS (yes, I know) that has only the ability to print to an LTP port. I need to grab that output via an LTP->USB adapter so that I can then send it to a printer. The output is just ASCII text. I have been digging and digging for a way to do this, but I can not thus far find a solution. So I have to ask for some help on this one before my eyes bleed anymore! Any ideas folks? Help would be so very appreciated?!

I've never tried but in theory it should be possible to write a program to read data from the parallel port adaper. A quick search did not find much success. I've also never tired using something like cat < /dev/USBlp0 in a bash script and save to a file. By using inotify you can monitor the file and send the data to a real printer.

You can also do the same thing with a serial port if the computer is so equiped. By using the mode command you can redirect lpt to com. Might be easier.

I am also in a similar situation but I have a parallel printer at the moment so not a problem until it breaks...
