mogrify: Unable to create temporary file.

Hi all,
When using mogrify to resize an image (or using the -geometry option) I get this error:

mogrify: Unable to create temporary file(filename)

I get this as a reg user and as root, and both have write access to /tmp and /var/tmp. Anybody got any ideas?

This is on a vanilla install of RH9.

Thanks

Doug

Do you have enough room on the /tmp mount to create the temp files? I use mogrify often and haven't had many problems.

When I installed RH9 a few days ago, I just created a /boot and a /. The /tmp falls under the / mount, and there's tons of free space. Now if I should have made a separate /tmp mount then maybe thats why it doesn't work.

I just did a test and manually copied at 5mb file into it successfully, so I know there's plenty of room. (I then removed it, and the images I'm dealing with are under 400k)

Out of curiosity, is it safe to just blow away everything in the tmp directory? (It doesn't look like a good idea)

I trust you have the correct permissions for the directory/file that you are trying to mogrify...

Yep. They are images I've created as a reg user in my home directory.

The problem was apparently the version that ships with RH9. Upgrading to ImageMagick 5.5.7 cured the problem...

Thanks
