Question Modify themes in LaTeX beamer

Hi all!

I am trying to modify a theme in beamer (Copenhagen to be precise) but, after modifying it, when I try to save it, Linux tells me that I am not allowed to do that, I don't have the permission!

I can neither create a new file .sty and save it in the folder.

I did exactly the same in windows and it works properly, so I guess that the problem is in the "security options" for Linux.

I am using Ubuntu 11.10

Thanks,

Ashotti

The .sty files are usually stored in a directory that only has write access for the root user (somewhere under /usr/share, from memory). So, you need to run your editor using "sudo" to gain elevated privileges.

Thanks, it works!!

I opened the file using
Quote:
sudo gedit file.sty
then I was able change it and save the changes.

But, I got the following warning message:

Quote:
(gedit:3833): Gtk-WARNING **: Attempting to store changes into `/root/.local/share/recently-used.xbel', but failed: Creating file "/root/.local/share/recently-used.xbel.JQUQGW" failed: File or directory not existing
is it something important?

Thanks again for your help!
