Question Modem Woes

hi,

I had recently installed and configured RedHat 9.0 on my Compaq Laptop (AMD Procsr). I configured my modem (Conexant, Internal) and everything was working fine.

But recently I downloaded all the upgrades from Red Hat Network. It created a new Kernal also ... Now GRUB shows me two kernals to boot from.

The problem is I can't connect to the internet now When I activate the modem, it quits by giving the error

ppp0 error 8 (sometimes it gives error number 7 als0)

Has anyone else encountered this ? Any workarounds ???

Thanks,
Ajoy
