I have the applet in my panel - it consists of two parts:
-a button on the left - to start and stop the connection managed by it
-the larger area on the right - with time and throughput monitor - and the two little lights...

-a right click gets you a menu - among other things you will see "preferences" or so...

-the first tab "general" or so (I cannot be specific about the english names - I use the germanized version...) shows what commands are actually run, when you use this applet ("pon" and "poff" might be in there)

There you will have to put the commands, which will start and terminate your connection - the commands you would/could use from command-line to start/stop your connection.
Modemlights is not an application like kppp - which will let you set up and manage connections and start them...

-also the last tab - "complex" - will have to be correct

So, to make it work through the applet you will first have to make it work from command-line...so you will know, what commands to put in there...

I don't know if there is a convenient way (I mean - a tool of their own to make this easy on you...) to do this in fedora, because I dont know fedora - but the way it will work with all versions of linux is to go and use "wvdial" or (actually this should be AND!) to read through at least one HOWTO on setting up pppd - to get the picture of how it is supposed to work.

This address should get you started: http://www.tuxfinder.com/LDP/FAQ/

I or someone else could help - but you will have to do the work!

Check on fedora - how their users are supposed or advised to do it...
I know of Debian - they have a very powerful little tool called pppconfig, which makes this really easy on you - look for something similar...

It is your decision, how you do it - I'd recommend the Debian-tool but I dont know if you can install that without problems - because it's made for a Debian-system.

Happy reading!

Hey FreakboY

I usually do not do this - I was just interested...

I opened google and loked for the most obvious: fedora ppp config

and the very first thing that came up might help you!

...complete with download link and everything...

Cheers
