Modem
OK...Linux sees my modem when I look at PCI - Devices through the control center......but for some reason I says it can't open it to dial in kppp. Can someone please help me with this..I am so close to finishing this thing. All I need this pc do to is connect to the internet via dial-up connection. I've read through all this stuff...it has helped but there is one missing piece. in kppp under devices it shows /dev/modem but when I query it it says unable to open modem. So i went through all the other devices it shows and it says modem busy when I try to query it. Plus I have no idea of what an x terminal. I am Linux dumb..help me.

Can you find anything with terminal in it's name by right or middle clicking on the desktop? In any menus? Can you find an icon anywhere that looks like a TV or monitor? That is an x terminal.

I've read through all that stuff and I'm still lost. I don't understand how Linux knows what my modem is but doesn't have the driver. I need to learn how to unzip this driver file I've got and install it. But like I said on my other post when I double click on the install files or .configure or make.in files they just opne in text form...so I'm lost!
