mod_jk compile can't find apxs

Hey all,

I'm trying to get apache 1.3.29 to work with jakarta tomcat 5. After executing in jk/native. configure can't seem to find apxs which is located in /usr/local/apache/bin/apxs.

This is the error I get from LDFLAGS=-lc ./configure --with-apxs=/usr/local/apache/bin/apxs

could not find /usr/local/apache/bin/apxs
configure: error: You must specify a valid --with-apxs path

I can't figure this out because the file is there, it's executable, and everything else seems to be ok.

Any help would be appreciated.
