mldonkey servers.ini

Hi
I never had an empty servers.ini file before when installing mldonkey... it's also the first time i installed it with the synaptic package manager of ubuntu... i didn't see where it installed mldonkey, i guess there i would find a full servers.ini file
and i can't find it with whereis nor find.

anyhow i started the daemon in a random folder (/home/mld/) and the daemon
started (Looks like you have no servers in your servers.ini) and created an empty servers.ini file

i found plenty of server lists, but i don't know in which format i should enter the servers in my empty servers.ini file.
so could somebody be so kind and post his/her servers.ini file, so i can see the format?

thanks

I had this problem with all new versions of mldonkey so I ended up compiling an old version from source and it works fine.

thanks

can't i just copy a servers.ini from a working mldonkey into my folder?
or edit the servers.ini file by hand?

i would try if i'd had it...

btw: MLNet 2.5-21 on ubuntu 5.10

You can try, I am not sure if it will work fine. I tried it sometime ago and could only connect to a few servers.

ok thanks, so i guess its best to install an older version (how old?)
are the mldonkey coders aware of this? Or is there some trick?

btw: normaly the daemon creates the servers.ini file at the launch filled with servers.

There should be some trick but after 2 days of searching I gave up. I can't remember what version I installed but its certainly not any of the new stable or development builds.

update to the problem:

found th mldonkey @ danson@tron:/var/lib/mldonkey$....
but as expected the servers.ini file is empty aswell

btw: i also don't like the fact that i have to enter a username and pwd to access http://localhost:4080/

btw2: the debian guys say 2.5-21.2 (my current mldonkey) isn't stable (http://packages.qa.debian.org/m/mldonkey.html)

where can i find an older source?
its quite difficult to find an 2.4 mldokey

installed mldonkey 2.6.7 from source, now it works!

small detail:

./configure installed ocamlpp.byte (it was missing).
some info: http://www.mldonkey.org/phpbb2/viewt...5836&start=15&

Ok thanks for the feedback. I will try it sometime soon.

changes in the new mldonkey (2.6.7):
it doesn't matter where you start mlnet, mldonkey always runs (config files, incoming, temp) in >home/dan/.mldonkey$

i was a bit confused in the beginning because i couln'd find the files i've downloaded

Yeah, I noticed this as well. I am not too keen on this beaviour though as the default, but then again most apps put their config files in hidden directories.
