mkisofs and backups

Just been copying things to a CD with
mkisofs -vrU -pad -C x,y -M 0,0,0 -o sessionx.iso /home/dad1/Downloads/afile.
I am in /home/dad1/cd_images
No problems, using cdrecord dev=0,0,0 -msinfo to get x and y
Then I wanted to copy an open office doc to cd
mkisofs -vrU -pad -C x,y -M 0,0,0 -o sessionx.iso openoffice.sxw
Still in cd_images, where the doc is.
I get an error
mkisofs: unable to find previous session PVD 0,0,0

Anyone got any ideas on this?
I need to back up so I can reinstall as I have messed everything up.
Thanks, Peter
