mkcdrec failing to recover LVM

I'm having a problem using DVDs made by mkcdrec (versions 1.1 and 1.2) to clone a redhat system running lvm, which should work. I have successfully used mkcdrec on similar hardware, but with disk partitions instead of lvm.

When I recover, /boot (on /dev/sda1) seems to recover fine. When the restore moves to / (/dev/mapper/VG00/LV00) I start seeing tar errors not reading all blocks in the file. Eventually I get "no space left on disk." From the shell prompt, it seems that the DVD 1 does not have the device-mapper to mount the logical volumes.

Has anyone successfully recovered an LVM system with mkcdrec? Were there any tricks? I'm trying mondo right now, but would prefer to stick with mkcdrec if possible.

Thx

The silence is deafening - 165 views and no responses. I guess that mkcdrec is a no-go for LVM partitioned disks, even though the documentation claims it can.

Fortunately, mondorescue appears to have worked.
