Missing Sound Card

I upgraded to Karmic Koala a couple of days ago, now I have no sound and can't open the 'Default Sound Card'. I suppose I must have done something stupid I uninstalled Pulse and reinstalled Alsa, but no change. All I can find in dialogue boxes is 'Dummy Output' but I can't find a way to change it, any suggestions?

Missing Sound Card Solution

This worked for me but I haven't rebooted yet, so we'll see:

sudo apt-get remove --purge alsa-base
sudo apt-get remove --purge pulseaudio
sudo apt-get install alsa-base
sudo apt-get install pulseaudio
sudo alsa force-reload

Thanks to TacheDeChoco on Ubuntuforums

No Joy

It worked but I have to force an Alsa reload at every start up Will there be an update to fix this?
