Missing showkey in Puppy 400

I'm running Puppy 400, and I have loadkeys, but no dumpkeys or showkey. loadkeys works correctly (successfully swaped Caps lock and Esc) but I'd like to have showkey to help with some other mappings.

Where can I get showkey?

I can't say where you can get showkey (ask at the Puppy forum?), but you can work round the problem. Look at the files that define the console keyboard: on my computer they are in
/lib/kbd/keymaps/i386/qwerty which has the language files
/lib/kbd/keymaps/i386/include which has the common elements referred to by all the language files

Are the keycodes consistent across kernels? E.g., can I boot ubuntu and get the codes from that?

Attached: my attempt at a replacement showkey-like program. The keycodes it returns match the system keymap values, so I assume it's working right.
